Welcome on behalf of the CCYP Executive Committee On behalf of the CCYP Executive, Kathryn Hunt and I would like to welcome you to the conferences in this, the 30th year since our inaugural conference at Keele University in 1979.This year we are extending our geographical reach and meeting in London and Glasgow. Our conference planning has had a wider reach this year too, being based on a consultation process with past delegates, you the membership and colleagues from Scotland. How we enable children and young people to live with risk and take risks was a clear theme from this process and our speakers and presenters represent an impressive spectrum of research and practice around this focus. This year too, we have widened the opportunities for networking; we are a geographically and professionally diverse body of practitioners and maintaining ongoing contact I believe, is both important and a challenge. We are inviting participants to bring a poster for display during the conference, presenting your work base, your particular research interest or your ideas for the development of therapeutic work with children and young people. Sadly Kathryn is not able to be with us for the conferences, however I know she intends to make global contacts on behalf of CCYP as she travels to the southern hemisphere to undertake a research fellowship. I hope you will enjoy the conferences, gain new ideas and have good encounters to build on into the future. Ann Beynon Deputy Chair CCYP
